About

Media. Music. Movement.

"From writing a score of drumline music for a new play about football to creating an action movie live onstage with projections, or bringing the world of social media to life onstage, I am always up for a challenge and eager to synthesize visionary, new work with bold collaborators." -R. Belock

RYAN BELOCK is a producing interdisciplinary artist based in New York City. As a percussionist, actor, and designer, his primary work concentrates on establishing projected media as a scene partner and movement for the performer-designer.

Belock received his MFA in Integrated Media for Live Performance at the University of Texas at Austin, advised by projection designer Sven Ortel and director Charlie Otte. His thesis production, RE/CONNECT features interdisciplinary approaches to live performance, including arduino LED costumes, immersive video projections, movement, and live music. All of these tools, in concert with a live original score, dancers, and spoken word weaves a story about the fascination with current trends in communication technology and intimacy.

Upon graduation from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts, Belock received the accolade of "the arts guy" by the College of Arts and Letters Dean John T. McGreevy, triple-majoring in Music (percussion performance); Film, Television, and Theatre (theatre concentration); and Art, Art History, & Design (graphic design). While attending Notre Dame, Belock carved the foundation for a student arts advisory group charged with improving the integration and collaboration of professional, student, and departmental performances and exhibitions on campus.
